      Starved Rock Lock and Dam is located about miles southeast of Utica, Illinois. It sits miles above the confluence of the Illinois River with the Mississippi river at Grafton, Illinois.       Located on the Illinois River between LaSalle-Peru and Ottawa, Starved Rock State Park is one of the state's most visited sites. The 2,acre park has 18 canyons and more than 13 miles of hiking trails. The historic stone-and-log Lodge features 69 guest rooms. Unfortunately I only spent two days in the Starved Rock State Park and managed to go on about 4 trails, but I am keen to return even if only for a day trip. Even though the area is well maintained and sign posted one still feels like a discoverer and on an adventure/5(K).

        With about 13 miles of trails, we found that there is more than enough space at Starved Rock State Park to comfortably accommodate a great number of hikers.
